In Which She Fights

Hear ye, hear ye! The official fund raiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has begun!

My nineteen-year-old brother (seen above with me at the Renaissance Festival this fall) is currently engaged in an epic battle with acute myelogenous leukemia a Yale-New Haven hospital. From DC, there's not a lot I can do for the kid, but we can help make it so that families don't have to go through this in the future. So here's the deal:

I want you to donate to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of Robbie Greenberger. The link is here. For every $10 you donate between now and Sunday, February 24 in honor of my brother, your name will be entered in a raffle for yarn-y goodness. If you are a non-knitter and win a raffle prize, I will come up with something for you. So far, prizes include Claudia Handpainted Yarn Silk Lace, Dream in Color Smooshy, Fleece Artist and more. I will be photographing and posting the prizes over the next two weeks.

If you donate, please send me an email at kgreenbergerATgmailDOTcom with your name, blog link if you have one and the total donation. I will enter your name in the raffle and the names will be drawn on Monday, February 25. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please comment on this blog with your email address and I will make sure you're on my list.

I know the knitting community has done great things in the past for people in need. Please spread this on your blogs so that one day there won't have to be another post like this. Can we raise $2000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?

You got it! I'll donate and let you know. Also, I got your e-mail - I'm going to stash dive asap, and I'll let you know what I pick (with a picture) and get it on it's way down. I'm thinking it will be one of my skeins of Socks That Rock.

If any quilters are choosen, I'll make sure there's some cool batiks in the pool.

Katie,

I am right here fighting the fight to cure blood cancers with you. Blogs like yours help me find inspiration for the journey and fundraising I am doing to fight this horrible disease.

So nice to hear from you today.

I am very inspired by you and your brother's ability to see the silver lining during such hard times.

Here's to many more rounds of Monopoly! I will do my part to spread the news of your fundraiser.

I've made a donation, but I'm not a quilter. If by some chance my name is chosen, feel free to award my prize to a deserving soul. :)

Kate--I'm a quilting/knitting friend of your mom's. I just made a $25 donation but please don't enter me in a prize raffle, I'm very blessed in both the yarn and batik departments!

my thoughts and prayers go to you, your brother, and your family. I was diagnosed with Leukemia in my early 20s (fortunately for me they were wrong), so I can understand what you must all be going thru.

just wanted to mention .... to any Canadian readers out there .... if you go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society site mentioned, there is a Canadian Donation link. I'll be making my donation this evening.

Cheers !

I made a $10 donation and I'm letting you know so you can add it to your total but please don't include me in the raffle.

I wish your brother comfort and lots of healing vibes :)

I just donated $50. Please don't put me in the raffle. I don't knit and I don't really need anything. I just wanted to donate in honor of Robbie and in memory of my Uncle Wayne who died of lymphoma.
